But through my research into natural beauty, I have discovered that lots of the products we buy are filled with chemicals! And what we put ON our bodies, goes INTO our bodies.

So when I stumbled across this common kitchen ingredient that can improve your skin, I couldnt believe it. Then I tried it, and I was hooked. Smooth, soft, moisturised skin, fewer spots/breakouts, and really inexpensive! What is this wonder ingredient?

Honey!

Is using a Honey as a Face Mask really effective?

Yes!

Honey is naturally antibacterial, soothing and healing to the skin. Honey has been used for hundreds (probably thousands) of years as a skin healer and beauty product.

Honey and a honey mask are essential elements in all natural skin care. Honey is the queen of skin care ingredients and has been used for thousands of years.

Honey has many positive skin care properties. The best is that honey is a good moisturizer, as it grabs moisture from the environment and brings it to the skin. This makes it wonderful ingredient to use to fight dry skin and to help rejuvenate the skin, which leads to less fine lines and fine wrinkles.

Honey is traditionally known as a natural antibacterial. It is used (even in some allopathic medicine) as a skin healer (for example, helping to heal ulcers). Because of this skin healing action, it may be helpful for people with acne.

It is no wonder why so many facial mask recipes include honey in their ingredients.

It's important to use raw honey in particular because that means it hasn't been heated or processed, so it still contains all its essential nutrients and enzymes (which are usually destroyed otherwise when heated and processed).

Of course, you can be allergic to anything - so if you're allergic to honey, this is not the beauty tip for you! But for everyone else, yes, honey IS good for your face (and all of your skin). Give a honey face mask a try!

1. It has antimicrobial and antiseptic properties (great for healing cuts and burns and killing bacteria)
2. It's packed with nutrients and minerals such as vitamin B, iron, calcium...
3. It contains gluconic acid, a mild alpha hydroxy acid which brightens the complexion
4. It has a pH level of 4.5 so it falls within the skin's natural healthy range
5. When mixed with water, it releases peroxide properties which helps heal acne and prevent bacterial growth
6. It acts as a humectant, drawing moisture into the skin
7. Contains alpha hydroxy acids, which help to gently exfoliate the skin.
8. Honey is very powerful as it contains lots of great enzymes, vitamins and anti-septic properties that are great for the skin.

Honey is so gentle on the skin that you can really do this facemask as often as you like.

I do it once to twice a week and have seen an improvement in the redness and moisture of my skin. And if I get a blemish it heals quicker after uing this mask.

Tie back hair. Apply to dry, cleansed skin.

Apply layer of honey all over face. Let sit 10 minutes.

Rinse off with warm water or a warm washcloth. (If you want to make a mini-spa experience out of it, try an herbal face steam first, then a honey mask.)

Basic Honey Face Mask

This Mask will moisterise and nourish, skin will be left glowing and clear

1 egg yolk

2 tablespoons honey

10 drops of almond oil

Whip the above ingredients together until a creamy consistency is achieved. Store any extra in a wide-mouth jar for future use.

Honey Face Mask with Crushed Almonds

This mask will draw impurities out of the skin and the clay will help absorb excess oil. The crushed almonds will offer exfoliation. This honey face mask will be perfect for blemish prone skin

1 tablespoon honey

2 tablespoons finely crushed almonds

1 teaspoon powdered clay

4 tablespoons uncooked oatmeal or cornstarch

Mix the ingredients together and add a little water if the mixture is too thick to spread. Apply the honey almond mask to the face. Gently massage the face, using an upward, circular motion as you rinse.

Honey Face Mask with Avocado

This mask will be refreshing and soothing, lovely for sensitive and sore skin.

2 tablespoons of honey

2 tablespoons of dry buttermilk powder

medium size avocado, mashed (dry skin formula) or

cup cucumber puree (oily skin formula)

Combine the honey, buttermilk powder, and mashed avocado and stir until the mixture is smooth.

Honey Protein Face Mask

1 tablespoon honey

teaspoon lemon juice or cider vinegar

1 tablespoon bee pollen

teaspoon wheat germ oil or glycerin

1 egg white at room temperature or 1 small whole egg

The first step is to combine the honey, pollen, and lemon juice ingredients. These ingredients should be mixed well until the honey softens. Next, add the remaining ingredients and mix until the mixture is homogeneous.
