Bare Minerals Big Tease Mascara- My first try of a natural mascara
Eyes are our most expressive feature, the main reason many of us like to accentuation this area. This is the promise that Mascaras give us- thicker, longer and more luscious lashes.
Natural products always lure me in..... The promise of same performance with no nasties is enough to make me purchase everytime.
But are natural products as effective?
Are the chemicals needed for us to get the result we want?

My Thoughts
I received this mascara as a gift along with other bare minerals goodies; I adore this brand due to the natural ingredients so was really excited to try out a mascara.
At first I was disappointed in this mascara as it didn't seem to do a lot for my lashes compared to others that I have tried. It only minimally lengthened and thickened without a major change to my lashes. The brush applicator is one of the worst I've come across, it's bulky, ineffective, hard to use and doesn't grasp the lashes. I like a brush to be tapered at the end so I can reach the brush into the corners of my eyes to apply mascara to my inner-eyelid lashes.
When I remembered that it was a natural mascara without the nasty ingredients I decided to give it more of a try. Although it does take a lot of work, with careful application the mascara does give a fuller, longer eyelash look. Applying two coats didn't work well or seem to have much of an effect.
I think considering this mascara does not use the harmful ingredients that other mascaras rely on I do think that this is a nice mascara. I haven't tried any other natural mascaras so cannot make a comparison. This mascara will darken, lengthen and slightly thicken your mascara creating a pretty natural look. I would suggest using a different mascara applicator though as it really is bad.
If you prefer natural make up products and like the natural look then I would suggest this mascara. However if you are looking for a dramatic look then another option such as my favourite L'Oreal one (http://liveabeautylife.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/long... may be better.

Natural vs Chemical
The eye sockets and tear ducts are a direct window to the bloodstream, so it is important that any product used on or near the eye not be a chemically questionable concoction. Ingredients used in most mainstream mascaras are not the best- formaldehyde, parabens, petroleum distillates, coal tar, phalates and - egads - mercury (often listed as thimerosal).
It would seem that if there's one type of makeup that you should definitely go green on, it's mascara. However, it can be difficult to find a formula that is both cosmetically effective and naturally safe. In the weighing of consumer pros and cons, it's a shame that our vanity often trumps health.
Natural mascaras use nourishing ingredients like plant extracts, oils and beeswax in their formulas. These simple, pure, gentle ingredients are less irritating, less damaging and more suitable for sensitive eyes, contact lens wearers and, frankly, everybody. Furthermore, most natural brands also avoid animal testing, keep packaging to a minimum, source organic ingredients and adhere to eco-friendly business practices.
Yes, the big brands promise long wearing, non-clumping, self-curling, high-definition, voluminous, separating, fiber lengthening, smudge resistant and/or waterproof lashes that natural mascaras can't always match. But with the ingredients needed to do this, are they worth it?
I personally don't think Natural products get enough credit, and I do think they offer a threat to chemical products.
